Moi Moi: How to make Nigerian Moi Moi

Moi Moi as called in Nigeria is one of the most popular dish in Nigeria. It is commonly eat with Jollof Rice, Fried Rice, Fried Plantain, Custard, Akamu (Pap, Ogi). It can be eaten alone with soft drink of your choice.

Ingredients depends on the numbers of people

* Beans
* Egg
* Salmon Fish (Extract the bone out)
* grinded crayfish
* Maggi
* Fresh pepper
* Fresh Tatashe Pepper
* onions
* vegetable oil
* Salt (to taste)
* Aluminium foil, White Nylon or Plastic Bowls (To Wrap Moi Moi)
* Clean water

Preparation

* soak and wash the beans to remove the coat.
* Blend the beans When the entire coat has been removed
* Boil the egg till done and cut into small pieces and set aside.
* Prepare the moi moi containers OR Foil (For Wraping)
* Wash the tatashe pepper (if using it). Ensure you remove the tatashe seeds as they have a tendency to give meals a bitter taste.
* Boil the Salmon Fish
* Cut the onions into pieces
* Wash the Fresh peppers and set aside.
* Blend the tatashe and onions,Fresh Paper

Mixing and Cooking Directions

* Pour the blended ingridents into a big bowl where the * Blended Moi Moi is kept and mix it, add salt to taste and stir very well.
* Note: All the mixing and adding of ingredients is done before cooking the Moi Moi.

* Now Dish Mixed moi moi into plastic containers or Foil
add Sliced Boiled egg and Boiled Salmon Fish to each container of Moi Moi and cover and put them in the pot.

* cook Moi Moi at least 1 hour, before checking it. Confirm that it is done by putting a knife through it, not watery.

* The length of time you will cook the Moi Moi depends on the quantity and the Moi Moi container you used.

* Note: To know when Moi Moi is Done, you have to check it with Knife and once the knife can cut it and you didn't notice watery moi moi, means it is done

* Once Moi Moi is done allow it to be cool then serve
with Jollof Rice, Fried Rice or Fried Plantains. For breakfast, serve with Custard or Akamu (Pap, Ogi).
